Challange
The hardware exists. The documents exist. The tooling to connect them mostly doesn't.
In Romania, electronic IDs exist — but the infrastructure to actually use them digitally is fragmented, expensive, or simply missing for most individuals and small businesses.
Goal
Turn a standard Android phone into a fully compliant identity reader that anyone can actually use.
Build a production-grade, ICAO 9303-compliant eID and ePassport reader that extracts and validates identity data on-device via NFC — no specialized hardware, no third-party servers, no compromise on privacy.
Solution
A privacy-first approach where everything stays on device unless the user explicitly says otherwise.
Built in Kotlin and Java with full NFC and cryptographic compliance. All data is processed locally and only exported on explicit user request — making it viable in regulated and trust-sensitive environments. Reached around 1,000 users across individuals and small businesses, covering use cases from identity verification to onboarding workflow automation.
